How did you hook up with Mark the 45 King?
Through Celph Titled. He’s a goddamn star! He’s got a connection to almost everyone. I could do a song with fuckin Al Pacino if I wanted to. Celph can hook anything up I swear.
How would you describe your style? Is it fair to label it as comedy-rap?
My style is creatively fresh and dope, but you can call it whatever you want. I think of it as entertainment rap or maybe genius rap?! I’m not too concerned with labels. You can call it whatever you want but at the end of the day I stand out in your face. You can’t try to lump me into a group with a bunch of other artists. The material is too original and my approach is sooo fresh. Think about it homie!
In Wake Up you rap about people who are not concerned of the lack of their skills. Is this the reason for the oversaturated hip hop market?
I didn’t even notice. Is there a lot of rappers now? I don’t know I try to stay away from gay kids that rap. But yeah, there is a lot of wack people who think are dope. When they hear me dissing wack rappers they go haha that’s funny yea I hate those wack people too and have no idea I’m talking about their insignificant own rap presence.
What’s up with Dutchmassive? Besides the songs on your album he hasn’t released anything in years.
I don’t know I think he’s a fashion designer in Prague now. You can check out what he’s been up to at www.myspace.com/dutchmassive. Hopefully we get to work together in the future. He needs to produce more though, he’s dope with beats.
Will the Equilibrium unreleased album be ever officially released?
Maybe, maybe, maybe. It’s been talked about in the past year between the us in the group. We talked about a possible digital only release of that old material, but who knows!
Your bio says that you and Celph were selling bootleg Wu-Tang tapes at a
Wu-Tang show. True story?
(laughs) ya, mon, that happened for real. Celph printed the crappiest inserts and stickers for the tapes on this yellow paper with black writing – like a fuckin bumble bee(laughs). And before the show we were at the mall trying to sell the cds and Raekwon and some other Wu dudes walked by us, but didn’t notice what we selling. We noticed that Raekwon was only 4 foot 5 but we still fled the scene (laughs).
What’s the status of the Sweaty Black Bastard album?
Is it harder for you to succeed when you live in Tampa?
Naw, it’s not actually. The internet has made where your at almost unimportant – especially for this particular genre nowadays. It might be easier to do some live shows for more of my fans if I was in a city like New York or LA, but I love Tampa and I love Florida in general. It’s like a nonstop vacation with lubed up puerto rican whores everywhere.
If you could take one actress to dinner, who would it be?
Rosario Dawson, of course. I love that chick and I think we should start a family immediately.
2007 is almost at its end. How has this year been to you? What are you
favorite albums of 2007?
