Existereo is a memeber of The Shapehifters, Whyknows, Candy´s 22, Overfriendz and he has released numerous albums on his own. He is not your ordinary MC. He has a distinctive voice and his look is not what you see on MTV. Existereo is currently working on a follow to now-classic record Livin La Vida Boo Hoo and nine other albums.
How would you explain your increasing popularity in Europe?
I have been extremely fortunate to work with very great people like dDamage, Institubes, 24/7 Records, combined with a very interested and loyal fanbase, that continues to look forward to my arrivals.
The new Shapeshifters album has been officially confirmed. How many songs are you all deep? When is it coming out?
I have been on tour for the last five months, so I have not been in the studio with everyone, but I know that we have at least five, and a bunch in the works. Some of us come in to begin the songs, others of us to finalize them, so it is difficult to guess now which will make it to the final cut. But we should have a six song digital release soon.
It is finalized, and will be out before Easter. The hold up was on a few of the Para One songs and the featuring TTC songs, but it is all worked out now.
Factor told our magazine that there is a new Candy´s 22 album coming out but it´s not produced by him. Can you tell more about that album?
Yes. It is called A Girl And Her Gun, and it was actually made before La Vida Boo Hoo, but we had a hard time picking the final songs. Some of the songs were realeased on a rough version tour cd called On The Road Kill Again, and has bounced through a few labels but has now found a home.
Any chance of you doing new Overfiendz and Whyknows albums?
WhyKnows is in the works, we have some new members, but we will disclose more about that when the album is closer to being finished. No, the only way there would be another Overfiendz album would be if Rick Rubin produced it, the Melvins were backup band, my microphones were made of gold, and I could replace Metfly with Barfly.
It is kind of dead, so we are waiting for the sequel with the zombies.
Ten albums, literally. Grim Image, the solo album, Alpha Pup, the solo album, 3 Candy’s 22 albums, (one produced by Factor, and one with a band,) WhyKnows record, Shapeshifter record, Mixed Drinks volume two, which is gonna kick ass, and some european stuff I’m not at liberty to discuss, but it is gonna be big.
You were on tour with Subtitle and Big Juss last year. Do you plan to work with Jus in the near future?
We were supposed to work on an album together, label placed and everything, but due to creative differences it is doubtful to ever actually happen, although some of the songs will come out on the future arriving Mixed Drinks and future B-sides.
What is today´s graffiti scene in LA like?
Really weird, political, and business based, but there are still enough people doing it for the right reasons, and I have stopped paying attention to the scenes and now just write on shit cuz i like it.
You used to live in Europe for a few months. Have you ever thought about moving to Europe?
I did live also in Portugal for almost a year and a half, which is actually where we recorded the WhyKnows, but yes, me and my girlfriend, who is typing this right now, we are planning to move to Riga, Latvia, where I will commute from. Bluebird is in Berlin right now. I’ll wait and see how he does! And if my Institubes record blows up I’ll move to Paris, so make me a star!
You used to have a tatoo studio. Can you live off of music now?
It was actually a piercing studio, next door was the tattoo shop. I hope so, I can’t get a real job!
